I knew they didn't take it without asking, but I didn't know if someone else somehow had the rights to release it, and I just wanted to have a conversation about it I suppose. Especially considering(please don't murder me for this) I'd never really listened to the Beatles extensively before, but now I can without pirating it! Which is great

I felt the opposite, like I've listened to the Beatles so much that I wasn't really enthused by this release. But for you, I say go for it! It's worth listening to everything chronologically, to see how they evolve and grow apart.

Learn all the bass parts from Abbey Road. It'll be a fun and not overly difficult project.

The Beatles music is pretty ubiquitous. Having them on streaming services is nice, but for me it's a non-event. I had the studio albums on CD from the original issue. And then in 2009 they released the remastered versions of those albums. The Beatles have also been on iTunes for a few years, too. They've definitely had a digital presence. This new availability via the streaming services is nice because it's got the potential to expose young people to The Beatles music who ONLY listen to music via streaming services. And very likely that will lead to increased catalog sales for The Beatles, which we know they're REALLY hard up for.


Oh, and BTW, the more appropriate terminology for this is that The Beatles CATALOG of recordings is now on streaming services. Discography is a term that generally refers to a list of an artist's recorded work.
