Double Bass becoming a professional bassist...

Hi. It's almost time to apply to colleges and I was wondering what sorts of degrees that bassists get for becoming pros.

At Trinity (in Ireland) their music performance sounds really nice.. but focuses little on the instrument. If getting a music degree there, would the next degree be a master's in music performance? Or do you have to get a bachelor's in music performance first specifically?
So should I go for a degree that focuses more on the instrument first? Or not?

Sorry if these are silly questions and if it is in the wrong category.. x.x

You don't need a undergrad degree in performance to get a masters in it. It is all up to the audition. If you want to be a pro then study from the best possible teacher you can, practice your ass off, and go to a area that supports what you want.
