beginner bass player needs help with basic bass song

hey guys, so I recently picked up a bass just to mix things up abit from drumming and I love it although im very much a beginner I need help with this bass song

the only tab I can find on the net (on multiple sites) is this one:

now, correct me if im wrong, but doesnt the bass guitar keep going higher then just staying on the 10th fret? im just really curious cause im trying to learn to listen to bass and I wouldnt know where to start

if anyone can help me out and have a listen and tell me what the bass player is playing that would be amazing

but who knows maybe that tab is right im only a beginner!

Here is what I would do - that does not make it right, it's just what I would do.

First I would not look for tabs, playing from fake chord is much easier. I let Google find me some fake chord on the song. Google these words; guitar chords, "name of the song" the comma and the quote marks help in the search.

Now sing the song under your breath - so you know when to change chords. Singing the song not only helps with when the chords change it also will help you with the tempo or beat you need for this song. Yes, it's hard to sing and play at the same time - work at it. Neither tab or fake chord help you with note duration, tempo, etc. singing the song along with the vocalist helps.

First let's "dumb down" the chord progression for right now. That Em/D chord, I'd just play the slash or the D note, i.e. D-D-D-D along with the lyrics and then at the lyric word "darling" change to a G note. The Gsus2 chord - just keep playing a G note, i.e. G-G-G-G in time with the lyrics. Now that will make this pretty simple.

I don't know how accurate this is, but it's all I could find. I just searched YT for the band, song title, and added bass cover. One of the ways I learn songs. Much easier than tabs for me.

I'm not familiar with the band or song, but the few versions on YT that I watched featured only guitar. Looks like bass would just be the root notes from the chord charts.
