Looks like a really nice mixer and if it is like the X-32 it is gonna be a heck of a board. I do hope they keep the quality of the x-32 for this one.

I plan on getting one. They say November release but we know how the "they say" usually turns out on soon to be released musical products.

i've had sound done for me by a guy using the Rack version, it was plenty impressive.

the mackie DL is sorta the same concept, mixer as "black box" with the ipad doing everything; this really feels to me like the way it's going, i just can't get the idea of paying for a big ol' board full of expensive, breakable plastic moving knobs and faders when they're all right there on a touchscreen that i can walk around with.

Until you end up in an environment where wifi becomes challenging(lots of smart phones searching for signal) or you need to work very fast(1 finger is never as fast as two hands). It's those times that knobs, faders, and a traditional mix position are comforting.

But yes I use the remote capability every time that I think the pros will outweigh the cons.

I guess the pricepoint will make a x-32 rack versus x-18 consideration.But if you don't need as much as the rack offers the x-18 may fill the bill quite nicely. I have been considering a rack but may hold off for a while to see if x-18 actually manifests this year. Or get both.

yeah, there is that; even when the ipad is plugged in, there's the issue of still having to flip or scroll to grab a fader and turn it down, a Bad Thing if something starts feeding back. there's also the issue that you have to look at the pad to use it, unlike a physical knob that you can leave your finger on while looking up at the band for cues or whatever.

the x32 also breaks out of the iOS-only trap, you can use it with android stuff; the guy who used it to mix my band had some sort of asus tablet.

I've been taking a look at some of the ipad controllers so when I'm ready to move to a digital board I'm able to make an informed decision. I noticed that Behringer posted a separate X18 controller in the App Store. I had been under the impression that the X18 would use the existing X32 app, but now I'm not so sure. That might be one of the ways Behringer differentiates the X32 line from what I expect to be a new entry level product line.
