being refused when waning to try guitar effects

I was playing a Beatle Bass through a Fender Bassman and a manager came up and unplugged it right at the amp. Without even turning it down or off. Nice little POP. He said "no basses through the guitar amps" and proceeded to start walking away. I say "this is a bass amp." He says "bass amps are over there (points to the MarkBass)".

I guess I'm really lucky. The guys at my local GC and Sam Ash pretty much let me do anything I want. Probably because I know way more than most of them do and I'm not afraid to let them know ;) But they do hire some guys who really know their stuff. Apparently they have standards in Orlando, although one guy at Sam Ash tried to push Monster cables on me a ltitle too hard once. I set him straight on that!
Did you set up a double blind cable test?

My findings... distortion pedals for guitar and a keyboard do not communicate well... Something gets lost. (We tried several distortion and fuzz pedals)

what pedals did you try on it and what keyboard was it?
i play keys and use a bunch of pedals. no problems. obviously they play differently so you need to adjust things accordingly...
