Benavente in tha house!

Thank you all for the positive comments. Brian Barret at The Low End has been very helpful during the short process of me getting this bass to The Netherlands, and knowing that he's a regular at TB I especially wanted to thank him 'publicly' for that. I wouldn't hesitate to do business with him again, if only the $$$ wouldn't be an issue right now ;)

When I saw the bass being offered for sale with the frets levelled and (most importantly) a new Benavente preamp installed by 'the man' Chris Benavente himself, I knew I had to act quickly, which I did, and everything went smoothly after that.

To be honest I did take a bit of a gamble, not having played a Benavente in my life. But all the raving reviews here on TB gave me the confidence to go for it. I have loved this bass ever since it appeared in Bass Player magazine, I know a thing or two about its previous lives and I must admit I really enjoyed myself reading back the heated discussions between Fodera and Benavente enthousiasts it caused, albeit with a little help from the great mr. Anthony Jackson, on both TB and Yahoo.

And now for the most important part: as you can see from the pictures it looks stunning and the level of craftsmanship leaves nothing to be desired. Its condition is almost mint, and I intend to keep it that way, although it will be played like there is no tomorrow... :)

The playability is great and very comfortable, and although it sounded fine (both in active and in passive mode) when I recieved it, it really sounds fabulous with the TI Jazz flatwounds I installed. The Ebony laminates in the neck add extra sustain to this already very resonant beast. The thing I love about basses that already have something on the milometer, is that the woods have all settled nicely and in a way have agreed to produce the best tone they are capable of together.

That's a wonderful bass you have there! I played it at the Low End a couple of weeks ago, and I asked Brian if he could build me a bass that sounds just like it! I loved the way it handled and the sound is just there in all the right ways.

Thanks Akito! Luckily you didn't snatch this one away right before I decided to go for it. I really would have been :bawl: :bawl: :bawl: :bawl: :bawl: :bawl:
The TI Jazz Flats make this bass sound really wonderful, so if you decide to order a similar instrument, I strongly advise you to try them!
