you ARE NOT going to impress them, NO MATTER what you play.
they aren't looking to be impressed, dont TRY to impress them.

they would MUCH rather hear you nail a solid autumn leaves performance than play classical thump...

your audition is not about making an original performance to entertain the panel, it is to show your aptitude as a musician, and your understanding of jazz. Play autumn leaves.

I used a night in tunisia and take 5 as my two college audition pieces, and i was accepted.

guess what my first homework assignment was??

AUTUMN LEAVES.....

oh.. and don't play slap, that is the worst idea yet on this thread.

Here is something totally different: get yourself a copy of Berklee Practice Method: Bass. This is from the forward of the book:

The book has 9 recordings made by Berklee faculty. If your more visual, Berklee Workshop: Essential Rock Grooves for Bass has video footage of the songs from this book. I own both and they are top shelf material. Do yourself a favor and get the book. I got mine from Amazon.com for $15.
