Best 15" speakers?

Hi. I was recently lucky enough to find (and acquire) a 2-15" bass cab. Now, I'm pretty much gonna gut it and replace the speakers (of course) first. What are everyone's recommendations on what speakers to replace the old one's with. I'm gonna use it by itself for gigging purposes, and need something loud and low. Thanks.

The speakers will determine what type of head I'll use. The cab isn't much to look at right now, but it's a restoration project for me (doing it my way of course haha). Truth be known, it is an old Peavey cab that I'm basically gonna replace everything on (tolex, speakers, speaker grille, etc.) I think it will be a very exciting project. Pics (before and after) coming soon!

This cab was a '70's Peavey 215 center slot port that was turned on it's side and "Fenderized" to match the head that is sitting on it.

It was an empty cab when I bought it for $40. It now has a pair of E-V 15BX 400W speakers which are just incredible.

The 15BX speakers have been out of production for several years but they turn up on ebay from time to time. I have them in 3 different bass rigs because I've never tried another speaker that will outperform them.

If I was going to replace the E-V's with something currently available, it would probably be a pair of Peavey 1502DT or 1505DT Black Widows.

Eminence Beta and Delta 15's are usually good speakers to throw into old 215 bass cabs and won't break the bank. They will usually work in in a variety of cabs and are probably Eminence's best bet for vintage cabs at a decent price.

I would probably run Kappa's. I have a large ported 2x15 that I fitted with Legends and the lows are gut churning. Not sure if you would see the same results with a smaller vintage cab but, man 15's sure to bring the air movement.
