BEST 4 ohm CAB

Just a FYI don't get a different type of cab to go with the one you have, if you read here often you will hear others warn different cab types seldom play together well, it's true. Be sure to get a match (or as close as possible) to what you have. It will work better when combined than mismatched cabs.

The volume gained by jumping from 8 ohms to 4 ohms is largely inconsequential. Add a second, identical 8 ohm cab to see an actual increase in output.

Genz Benz NeoX-212T

600 Watts RMS
42Hz-18KHz
101db sensitivity
53lbs.

Great tone and volume. Can carry with one hand pretty easily for me.

This is true- if you're really need a significant amount more volume going from 8 to 4 Ohms probably isn't going to cut it for you.

But for a great sounding 4 Ohm cabinet I'm really enjoying my Genz Benz UB 212T, the NeoX's bigger cousin. Has the same speakers, but in a bigger enclosure, so sensitivity is up to 102db @ 1W/1M, but the weight is also up to 63 lbs. Still not bad schlep-wise compared to what some others are suggesting, but again, if you need massive volume I'd consider some of the bigger 2x15, 4x12, 6x10, or 8x10 cabinets suggested. I doubt you could go wrong with a big Bergantino, for example.

Yeah I'm kinda over 4 ohm cabs, unless they are at least a huge cab (which creates the case where you don't really need to add one....)

My recent addition of Ampeg V4BH which only does 8 or 4 ohms, I can only use one of my 4 ohm cabs.

In the case of single speaker cabs (my Mesa Scout Cabs) it's pointless to have them be 4 ohms though I've argued the contrary in the past.

My advice is go with 8 ohm for the most in flexibility.

What would you recommend as an extension cab for the Scout ( I have a 4 ohm, 12") would a single 12 8 ohm really give me more boom and lows? Looking at the Aguilar DB112. (I used a 5 string too)

Hello, 2011! ;)

You ought inquire in the Walkabout megathread (assuming you're using that head with the combo cab). I wouldn't pair the 4 Ohm scout with an 8 Ohm Aggie - power mismatch, cab mismatch - either another, 4 Ohm Scout cab (WA will do 2 Ohms) or swap the speaker to make an 8 Ohm cab and add one or two more identical 8 Ohm cabs - or, if you prefer another cab to the Scout, sell the cab and get two or three in 8 Ohms.
