Best all around cabs?

I'm in the market for some new cabs, something that can handle the 1000W my Carvin head pumps out, but I'm not sure if I want to go with a 410 and a 115 (or 118) or an 810.

I play on mostly Fenders or Fender-like instruments, and I generally play southern style rock music. My issue is that I also like to get into jazz and funk, and I basically want cabs that can do all that comfortably. My budget is around $1000-$1200.

Any thoughts? I was thinking of grabbing some of Carvin's BR series stuff.

Grab a Carvin BRX 4x10, they look pretty killer, or with that budget call Dr.Bass or Low Down Sound and have them design and build exactly what you want. I currently play Avatar with absolutely no complaints

Acme Sound B4! You then won't need either a 15 or an 18. Best low end extension of any bass cabinet (except for the other Acme products).

Low Down Sound can build you a heck of a cab within that price range. Don's awesome. I've been using mine for a little over a year now and it's killer. I'm getting ready to add another one for covering bigger gigs.

I'd recommend a Schroeder 21012; more than will replace the 810 AND will fit in your back seat! I've gigged mine for a couple years and I like it over the Ampeg and Kustom cabs 810's that I packed for WAY too long. Depending on your bass, the tweeter may/may not suit your upper-end (EQ) for jazz/funk; it's a damned good rock'n'roll cab that is really nicely voiced for rock, efficient, and loud - you'll have TONS of headroom w/ that much power...I've NEVER had to drive my cab hard at all except at a couple outdoor gigs. Also, you'll be hard pressed to find a manufacturer that has better customer service. At the very least, give him a call and tell him what you need.

I'm rather fond of my Mesa Powerhouse cabs. They take a beating, and sound good doing it. Tight, focused, punchy, and sort of mid range voiced, but they also pack a mean low end punch. Just sayin'.

I got my '05 Powerhouse 8x10 used $500! Now, I know I got a KILLER deal at that price, but you should be able to find one used at around $700-$900.

I have not found anything to compare with my Avatars, for the money............ You may want to check out some other lines, since your budget could get you three Avatars!

No such thing as the best cabs. Everyone is looking for something different. I really like the Aguilars and don't care for Epifani, but I'm sure there are many TBers with the exact opposite opinion. Try everything you can and get what works for you!

If I'm readi9ng the description correctly, this is a PA cab. Would the drivers in it stand up to a bass? Wouldn't using it be as risky as using a guitar amp?

I use and will probly always use Carvin cabs but These DR Bass cabs will have me re-thinking my choice.
