So you work in Park Slope? I used to take lessons with Trevor, about a year ago. I had to hide my internal "squeeeeeeee" every time I walked into his house!

However cool that was, the best bassist I ever met, who was also my mentor, is Bakithi Kumalo. He's a close family friend, and is working on his new album with my step-dad (also a bassist, and producer). Nicest guy you will ever meet.

We ran into each other several times after that and once he played drums while I played bass while the U of M band read his charts down....they showed up on Invitation and The Birthday Concert.

I met Christian McBride at a photo/video shoot a couple months ago. We were both being shot/filmed as Davidoff Cigar endorsers for their upcoming ad campaign. He plays his upright in his bit. Very nice guy.

Best I have met..
- Alain Caron.( Several times. In Victoria,B.C. twice, in Regina, Sask. and in Saskatoon, Sask.) very nice guy.
- Dave Young. Many years ago in Regina. Even arranged a lesson with him. Another great guy.
- Steve Harris.

and also very jealous of the fellow that met Jaco.

The only "famous" bass player I've ever met is Jimmy Haslip, during the Yellowjackets & Mike Stern tour, very nice guy. I also got the chance to chat with Mike and asked them to sign my ticket, they did and Jimmy also wrote "Rock The House"!

I met Victor Wooten after a Bela Fleck show about a hundred years ago. He might be the coolest and most down to earth guy I've ever met. All of the guys were super cool. Very nice and real people. No egos on those guys. Probably some of the finest musicians out there and by far, some of the coolest.

i knew a guy rudy who played fusion and jazz in hongkong when i was growing up every sunday since i was about 11 at a hotel bar..... the guys used to call him manila jaco:)... ive never seen anyone play with such a combination of technique and swing

Mike Gordon

All of them seemed very nice for the most part. Michael Manring and Steve Bailey were both real cool. I got to hang with them for a better part of a week at the NH bass fest. Got to have multiple classes with them. Both are extremely impressive players.

Yeah, he lives like 2 blocks from my shop... I'd love to take lessons w. him, but I feel like I'd turn into Chris Farley interviewing Paul McCartney... "You remember that time you recorded Disco Volante?... that was AWESOME!" :hiding:
