Best blues albums ever?

I think its a great album, though it does have a bit more of a rock influence.
I guess if i had to choose another.. maybe electric mud? I find myself listening to it a lot.
Maybe eliminator? But again yall might not think thats too bluesy

try the guys that influenced led zep....willy dixon and little walter have been mentioned.....once you dig deeper past the rock and roll style "blues" guys there is a huge body of work to discover,from the east coast piedmont, georgia , the delta,all the way to texas.....you could build a pretty decent collection just from texas.....some of those blues re-issue series are getting hard to find but it's worth the trip....

Crediting Led Zeppelin with the best blues album of all time is a serious smack in the face to a lot of blues artists who came before, influenced Led Zeppelin, and didn't get much credit or compensation for their impact on popular music.

Kind of a trick question because:
1. It would be really hard to pick 1 album and say "this is what it's all about.
2. I dig the old stuff, so most of it wasn't recorded as albums.
That said, the "cheater" answer, for me, is "Screamin' and Hollerin'..." the Charley Patton box set. Both the coolest packaging ever and could fulfill #1 above. As a pure album, mebbe Howlin Wolf "Howlin Wolf".

Honestly, if you play pop music as a bass player, you owe it to yourself to digest that material as part of your formal self-teaching. You can literally hear 95% of the pop music licks and figures rolled into existence in that set of recordings. Its actually shocking to hear how much of the content of the early Brit invasion bands was set forth in the Chess studios. To me, this is a massive pillar of our heritage. YMMV for favs, but this one is not to be missed.

"Best" is probably impossible to define. "Must-have" is actually easier.
