Best cabinet for Ashdown ABM 900 EVO II

I'm pretty much thinking of getting an Ashdown bass amp. If it turns out that I like Ashdown, I think I'll go for the pinnacle of the company - the ABM 900 EVO II.

When it comes to cabinets, I'm not sure what. Perhaps a 2x10, or a 4x10, or maybe even two 4x10's stacked on top of each other. Well, we can't all afford an 8x10.

Also, will a MAG/Neo cabinet work with an ABM EVO II head? I'll probably go for the Neo - I think the ABM and Classic series may be pretty much the same.

Perhaps I could even go for a cab from a different brand...like maybe an Ampeg or GK, or maybe even Aguilar (nice colours there)...

Well if you're going to sport for the 900, you should use two 4 ohm cabinets. The ABM900 is a true stereo amp, meaning it has two power amps that you cant bridge, each side must run its own cabinet. If you run just one 4 ohm cabinet, you're only getting 575 watts from your ABM900, that same as you'd get by saving yourself $500 and just going with the ABM500. If you use 2 eight ohm cabinets, you're in the same boat again. This is the very reason why, even tho I had massive power requirements, I went with the ABM500 over the 900, with a single 4 ohm cabinet ( in this case, a Bergantino NV610 ).

So for point one, I recommend you do the same, save yourself some serious dollars and get the ABM500, cus the only way you're getting any benefit out of the 900 is if you run two large, 4 ohm cabs, and it doesn't sound like thats within your budget.

For point two, I highly recommend the Ashdown 410 cabinets, and so do many of the people who've used them in comparison to other similarly priced cabs. I VERY STRONGLY recommend ANYTHING by Bergantino Audio.... and I also got some cool sounds from an Ashdown / Schroeder combo.... a few cabs you cant really go wrong with: Aguilar GS410, Eden 410, Bergantino HS410.

I'm on my second Ashdown right now. First was the ABM EVO 500. I ran it through an Epifani 3x10 and loved it. But I sold it...and now have an Ashdown MK500 running through an Epifani 1x15 and a Schroeder 1210. I would say it depends on the sound you're looking for.
I love my Epifani/Schroeder mix. I didn't like it at first but after spending several hours tweaking the tone, I got it dialed perfectly. And I love it. Check out Schroeder and or Epifani.

You know what? I'm gonna settle for an ABM 500/Klystron 500 head. The first head I mentioned may cost 1300 bucks, but it's still cheaper than the Ampeg stuff.

I have nothing against Ampeg. Maybe I would end up liking them. But I can't afford them right now, so I'll settle for Ashdown. I'll probably start small, with a combo, then perhaps I'll work my way up to MAG, then ABM.

Not that I've ever owned any Ashdown gear, but supposedly the higher amount of power going into the ABM900 makes it sound better with a single cab than the ABM500 does. There were a few threads on this a while back.

But if I had an ABM900 I'd just get a pair of four ohm Acme B2s and be done with it.

I don't think I'm ever going to run two cabs with one amp. I guess using a stereo amplifier for mono operation would be overkill.

I am using an Aguilar GS212 or/and a GS 112 with my EVO500. I like the sound a lot especially the GS212.
