Best compressor?

I am going to buy a bass compressor, but what is the best compressor?

There is no best. First, decide if you want to use a compressor to control your peaks, or more to enhance your tone. A good place to start and read about various compressors is this website. It's quite authoritative here on TB when talking about compressors.

I use an aphex punch factory. Decided after a/b it with a mark bass compressore.

When I was using a compressor, I found the MXR Bass Compressor to be to my liking, for whatever thats worth. I A/B'd it against the Aguilar TLC and EBS MultiComp and the MXR was slightly better for me. The LED display was a big plus but also the tone was better. Purely subjective, however.

The Daring Audio Phat Beam is the best for peak-limiting that i've found. I don't use the compressor side much but i'm sure it would satisfy you.

the FEA Dual Band is one of the most versatile compressors I have ever played. The Aguilar is a close second, but the FEA beats it out because of resourcefulness and tweakability.

On a tight budget, if you don't need to go with the pedal format, I could say that I'm fully satisfied with my ART Tube MP/C. It's a tube preamp with a built in compressor. It works well and doesn't cut lows

I just bought a Boss LBM-3. I don't know where exactly you are living, but it's on display at Feedback in Rotterdam. I went there and tried it out for half an hour, last Saturday. It's a subtle compressor / limiter. For me it works fine. It can be set to remove the nasty peaks. It can also be set to really limit the output to a fixed value. The tone stays in shape quite well. The price is about 100 Euros.

Both are amazing for the price, and both are reallly good regardless of price
