Best Light weight backup amp under $500

I think I'm mainly looking for something that can easily handle my bigger gigs also if needed.

depends on how rowdy you need to get on stage. 200w is very loud with enough cabinet. If you have PA support you won't be maxing out an mb200.

I too think the MB200 would be fine - however if not the MB500 surely would. Check around - you can get them new for less than the $499 you see everywhere.

I have to comment on this topic. I was at my practice last night and my "practice" amp died on me (GK 800rb). I went out to my car and grabbed my "emergency" back up amp (GK MB200). Plugged it in to my GK Neo 410 (8ohms) and was back in business.

I was so happy that I made the decision a few weeks ago to always have my MB200 in my car. It was plenty loud (2 guitarists and a heavy hitting drummer). Btw OP, I also have a Mesa D800 that I use as my main gigging amp. Hate to sound like I'm beating a dead horse but IMO, for what you listed as what your wants/needs are, the MB200 is a perfect choice for you...

Thinking seriously about getting either a Aguilar TH500 or a Bugera Veyron Moffset 1001. Still torn but the Bugera has great reviews for the money.

The TH500 are more 'voiced' (if you ever want a clean midrange - the TH don't quite get there, just a bit of furry around the note).
Veyron from what I've heard on TB, doesn't do 'OD' (you'd need a pedal or ?) - warm, but clear tone.
