I have a fotoflame pbass and the pick up is not giving it what I would like. I play with a distorted sound and would love any suggestions on what you guys think would be right

Best metal pickup for a p bass

DiMarzio Model P: big in the mids, grinds well, tastes great, less filling.

I'd also recommend stainless steels for a precision, if you're looking for an aggressive tone. Rotosound 66, Dean Markley Blue Steels, and Dean Markley SR2000 are all good options for a gritty/aggressive sound on a P.
Lastly: overdrive/distortion can definitely help with the aggression. For overdrive, I'd recommend an Xotic Bass BB Preamp; for distortion, a Darkglass B3K.

+1 Listen to Tooley for he is wise.and that's the pickup I have in my P it's a monster! & worth checking out!
Check out this video, Kent Armstrong pickups. IMO, they're aggressive, big bottom but not too muddy .

Lots of players seem to like the SD SPB-3 Quarter Pounder as well, but it's way too scooped IMO to be used in metal if you like to hear yourself.
