If you don't currently own any other microphones, I would suggest you invest in a Shure SM57. It's an industry standard great all around mic in your price range.

I'll prob give the 57 a go then. Looks like it's a mic you can't go too far wrong with. I can plug it straight into my Scarlett Solo. Thanks for the help guys much appreciated.
