4. Learn how to get a good mix with your band mates- producers and promoters
5. If you can't hear what everyone in the band is doing, you are too loud-me

You should save that quote for a thread entitled "Worst Advice You Have Ever Received."
When I went to study music my bass teacher began by asking me a question that I still ask myself: "do you want to be a bass player or a musician?" I chose the latter and am a much better bassist because of it.
put up a wall of sound, and never let it drop.....

this one i told my self: screw the tabs and never look back at them. learn to play everything by ear

possibly....but I do tend to get really nervous and think way too much...which makes it worse
you dont have to play perfect--or be a perfect player...
but you do have to PRACTICE perfect....

I can't believe I haven't posted this before.
When I was at school, my bass instructor picked up a drumstick and turned to show me the butt end. You know that little black dot in the middle of the butt end of a drumstick? He told me "Get in there."
Years later, I'm still working on it. But the advice has done well by me.
