They helped some, I chose the combination that sounded best and that was an improvement over the original settings (don't ask me what they were!) which is why I haven't bothered to change the wiring yet, but it's still not ideal for my liking. Not a biggie, like I said, it's been three years and I've gigged it as is many many times. I just know I can make it a bit better for me.
It does. But you're right, the documentation didn't mention that. It was only after someone made a comment, months after I had my bass, that I checked... and there they were. IT's just the standard BTC module.
IME: it's all about the preamp and the active pickups. a 'brand of bass' isn't important, per se. although i like passives for the gigging, i have an "active" PJ with an EMG 'all active' system in it, and tone-wise = it goes anywhere i want it.
Ah, well that's great that it has the switches. Schecter maybe ought to specify that feature on their site? it's a definite plus.
EMG made an economy "manufacturers grade" BTC tone circuit for Godin, at one time. Godin put that cheaper BTC unit in their BG IV bass (probably the BG V, too). Which kinda surprised me, as the Godin BG IV had EMG DC35's, German Schaller machines, and a Schaller roller bridge....all good stuff. But they cheap'd out on the tone circuit, although they advertised the bass as having an EMG BTC. Which technically it did, I guess. Just not what some folks (like me) were expecting.
I emailed Godin about it, they played dumb, acted like they didn't understand the question. Then I got ahold of a guy at EMG who told me the whole background story. In the end I returned what would have otherwise been a sweet bass....makes me wonder how much cost Godin saved by cutting that one, significant corner?
