Best Polish

Just wondering what "off the shelf" polish you use on a poly-urethane body finish.
I've heard "Lemon Pledge" furniture is a not a good idea. Car polish?

I like a good automotive cleaner/wax for poly finishes, I'm currently using Meguiar's. Removes gunk and fine scratches too. Then its just a soft cloth for months in between waxes.

Mother's California Gold. Stage 3 without cleaners or abrasives. ProWax is another great formula too.

It's the same stuff that you buy as a specialty guitar polish - only much less expensive. One can will last you years.

Avoid liquid waxes, although those with carnauba wax in them are miles better than one named for the English equivalent of: Testudines - trying to appease the attorneys here.

In any case - stay away from waxes with cleaner agents in them and run away from silicon- or petrochemical based 'waxes'.

Oil based furniture polish is not a good idea. But I think you already knew that. Almost any name brand auto polish is OK. A bass that is wiped down well after every use would seldom require polishing. Cleaning it well after each use is probably a lot more important than what brand of polish you should use. I use Meguiar's about twice a year.
