Double Bass Best Portable Stool?

Does anyone have experience using the RobStool?
https://basscapos.com/other.html#robstool

I'm wondering why I don't see any mentions in this thread. It definetely looks portable!

I know Rob is also an active member on TB.

this looks interesting- I have a large walkstool that works reasonably well. It’s much lighter - maybe a little over 1lb. But it has stability issues and gets really uncomfortable on 3 hr gigs. Rob’s stool looks like it would solve those problems

My son just sent me Link Removed for Father's Day, such a good boy. I don't sit down on stage, but I have found myself needing a stool at gigs that are (lately) full-houses ie:SRO and having this during breaks will be quite handy.

I try to keep a low profile on TB and never exploit it for my own interests. I suppose it is time to change my status. Anyway, on the RobStool, they are available, but I haven't been pushing it because of cost and shipping issues. Not only are they very time intensive to make, but because of dimensions they are very expensive to ship overseas. I am in Germany. I have looked for a distributor in the US, but no bites so far. You can order one direct from me, but the price will be shocking. Like $240 with shipping. I think I have a great product here. I just don't see enough of a market to put energy into this.

Re: the RobStool not making the rounds as much as expected, believe that since the whole COVID thing hit, the German post has made it so that items can't be shipped out of the country. @robobass do I have that right?

Phil,
That too. I still cannot send merchandise packages from Germany to USA via Airmail. Documents are allowed though??? UPS will do this for me, but naturally at much higher cost.

What about shipping within the EU? If not now, then someday when restrictions have been lifted?

EDIT: I am not actually in Germany anymore as my profile states (but pretty damn close), I will change that. I actually sent you an e-mail a couple of days ago, Rob. :-)

Have been using this for over a year and its great. Folds flat, lightweight and I rig a strap through it and over the shoulder as I wheel my bass along. I removed the guitar handle bar things (easy to unscrew), tuck the guitar neck holder under chair and works perfectly. Only one height but that is good for me as I can choose to have right leg on floor or on the footrest. Left leg mostly on footrest but can be on floor when need to stretch out on long sets

+1

I recently ordered one of these and am quite happy with it. It's slightly taller than the last stool I used, which is proving to be quite beneficial (I now get to sit with my RobPin angle endpin installed!). Very well built and seems like it won't do much squeaking at all for quite some time. As an added bonus, each leg has rubber caps that prevent slippage on smooth floors.

If I decide to get a "for home use only" stool, I sure hope these folks ship to the states! Opus Standard Bass Stool | Amadeus

I thought I'd add an update to this thread.

I've been using the K&M stool for quite a while now and it's probably the most comfortable stool ever... but not always a great option depending on the gig.

I found this one on Amazon and thought I would try it out. The first version I ordered was the 30 inch/75cm version, which was just a little too high for me. I returned it and replaced it with the 26 inch/ 65cm version. Both versions are rated for 250kg/550lb... so pretty sturdy when you look at the numbers.

This thing packs up super small and weighs absolutely nothing. It's pretty comfortable and I tested it out on a 3 hour gig. I mainly bought it for outdoor/patio type gigs where I might not was to bring the K&M. While I can totally use it for a gig, I'd probably be happier if it was 28 inches. However the 26 inch height is totally workable.

Here's a pic of it collapsed and in the storage bag (placed on top of my K&M stool for scale).

Here's a shot of it at the gig...
