Best power amp/amp with effects loop for a preamp pedal

Hi all,

I'm looking to get rid of my old amp since it doesn't sound very good with my Rusty Box, which sounds great in the FX return of the Markbass Head in our band's practice space. Unfortunately the Markbass isn't mine so I can't just use that, but what's a good power amp/amp with FX loop under $1000? I'd be willing to get a cab as well if the amp is small enough.

Thanks!

I've had great success w/ the Straight Ahead Power Amp, 500 watts at $325.00.

How about your very own MarkBass amp?!? That's with the assumption they show-up used for under $1000. What is your "old amp".

At the moment, I have my "character pedal" hooked to my EBS 750's return...sounds really good. There's a 752 in the classifieds for ~7 bills which goes head-to-head with the aforementioned options. All good choices.

I also use a Quilter 803.

I don't know how easy they are to find where you live, and how heavy can the amp be, but I would vote for a Glockenklang. I recently purchased a really old Soul II in good condition, and it sounds really transparent and has in/out between each stage of the amp, including an FX loop. Super versatile.

I also recommend any of the bassblock amps. They are a great choice. I've held onto my BB800 despite buying/selling/flipping everything else bc it's so useful. Can go into the front end and have access to the contour eq or di into the back and use it as a straight power amp. Used it with more preamps than I can count, as a powerful addition to a low wattage amp (pf-50t) and it's fantastic. Great footprint, handy carrying case and quality build.

Lots of good suggestions here, but a little surprised no one has mentioned a rack mount power amp by Crown, or QSC or any of the major brands. That was my first thought - as long as the input signal is matched properly to the preamp's output. "Power amps" don't have an effects loop, but bass amp heads would/could.
Side question but why are all of those power amps stereo? do they make any mono crown power amps to take a single preamp out?

My current amp is a cheap Carvin MB210 combo I got used like a year ago.
