Oh and, Bruno Mars has had a couple of excellent rhythm sections, with Jamareo Artis on the bass. Not sure if those count as “rhythm sections” in their own right, though, or if they’re just “Bruno Mars’s backup musicians”.

Best R&B Rhythm Sections Post Chic?

The Fisher brothers from Fishbone were at least pretty good...
The Time (Morris Day and the Time) were/are pretty darn tight.
Of course, that would bring Prince to mind as well, but you could say Prince was his own amazing rhythm section on the albums and hired amazing players for the live shows. And I don't know how all of that would count in this questioning, so... yeah.

Hub and ?uestlove were absolutely great together.
There's plenty of great rhythm sections around. Too many to mention. Mint Condition to name one. The Bruno Mars band to name another.

Most recent….. khruangbin, Anderson Paak and Free Nationals, and one of the best ever, Yussef Dayes Experience with Rocco Palladino ( Pinos son) and Tom Misch.
I know some of these are considered more reggae , rock or jazz or hip hop, a good rhythm section really blends and crosses genres.
