Best Reverb for Bass?

Because in the appropriate setting and playing style, it sounds fantastic. Other than that, I really can't think of a reason.
I only care for natural reverb. Has to fit the context. A large room will have great natural reverb. Large space makes it's own.
I always wonder why you guys post in the effects threads. I don't play a double bass and I stay off that side of the forums.
Reverb is a wonderful effect on bass. Just because others haven't found a use for it doesn't mean it is unusable. I am personally going to get an Afterneath when it comes out. Source Audio dimension reverb and Hof are great reverbs on bass as well. Is there a certain type of reverb you are going for? I.e. Spring, hall, plate etc?
I responded simply because the subject intrigued me. I'm aware of the boys who really like chorus or distortion, but I've really never even thought about reverb on bass. I wondered if I'd missed something - and maybe it seems, I have. Personally though - I rarely use the forum by sections, just new posts - and if it's something I'm interested in, or even confused by, I'll join in - in the hope I pick something useful up, like here?
I use reverb on a bass for one purpose only: if I have a jazz gig and can't use an upright for whatever reason, I use a fretless bass guitar with flats and a touch of reverb, using an EBS Dynaverb. Like so:
Ok that's cool, I was just wondering. It seems every once in a while somebody has to come over here and tell us how they plug right in to the amp like they are looking down at us effects users. To tell the truth I have never thought about verb on bass either but I recently got a B9 pedal and I need some verb for that. I have been looking at the zoom ms70cdr because right now I'm using a line 6 m5 and its too large for just a reverb. I was thinking about the hall of fame but the zoom appealed to me because it can do some things the hof can't.
The Nimbus is great, I loved mine. I sold mine when I got an SA Dimension Reverb. I think that, for the price, the Dimension is incredibly hard to beat if you want all the flexibility that it offers. The Nimbus is a very solid choice however.
in a lot of contexts it sounds really great. Jaco did a trio recording with brian melvin that featured a lot of reverb on his bass- such a beautiful sound. so much more musical than a lot of electric bass playing.. but then again.. its jaco, and this is not the thread for that discussion.
Janek uses it quite a bit too- that also sounds great. i have no idea what kind he uses, he used to be endorsed by TC- maybe they make one he uses? i have no idea.
outside of jazz / soloist stuff it's less necessary, sure- but for guys doing that stuff it's really, really useful.
I voted for the Nimbus. That being said, I don't have any experience with the others listed.
I've owned a Nimbus for a while now and it's a fantastic effect that is very inspiring for me. I don't currently use it live but I really enjoy using it at home as a creative tool. Small and simple with a wide range of high quality reverb sounds.

Im not saying its the best but its all I got and wanted too throw this out if anybody see's one laying around.
At church to fill some space, we don't have a guitar player at the moment, I use a Alesis Quadraverb GT (Rackmount) with a light reverb, GT meaning Guitar. But works for Bass if.....
The trick is you have to go thru all the patches you like and turn off the preamp and store it (99 presets I think, I only use 6) More natural sounding Bass that way. The preamp is more 80's guitar flavored of course. But the other effects are clear!
Can sound good if the reverb mix is used sparingly. Or turn up the cool delay and play some Pink Floyd tunes. Great Box for cheap on EBay.

My vote is for the EHX Cathedral (Ive tried the RV-5,Nimbus,HoF and a few others and this reverb is the most versatile and has 8 presets!)
I'd say other but only because I haven't tried any of those. I had a Mad Professor Spring Reverb it sounded cristall clear on the whole register (even too clean for my taste). Now I have a Mantic Proverb and a proverb pro and those are the best for dirty (in a really good way) ambiance stuff.
