"Best" speaker config?

I've always been a fan of 410/horn cabs. Plenty of punch and clarity. Also, depending on the design, lots of big fat low end.

Since you've already got the 1x15, build a 4x10 and run them both to move more air-get more volume. When both cabs are too loud or more than you need you can use either cab depending on what the room EQs to. This way you'll have the best of both worlds. I have always preferred the 15" but am now experimenting with a 2x10.

IMO dont do that. You are going to take the time and effort to build your own, you owe it to your future self to learn something in the process. IN this day and age, by comparison to what DIY guys had to do just 15 years ago, it is SIMPLE to plan, design, and build a very good cab. The internet, new programs, and new driver techs are, well... they are huge.

Use TB, search, ask, read, buy the BFM plans, read the fearful threads, ask and repeat.

You can get a LOT out of this place if you spend a few weeks of nights reading & searching.

1x15 + 4x10 has been done, and you can improve upon it. Dont sell buggy whips, man!

Which 1x15 cab and tube amp do you have?

I suggest a vertical 2x10 on top of your 1x15.
