I would like to know what strings would you recommend for a graphite neck bass and why? I would like to keep a warm sound with full low ends. Thank you in advance for your input! {}
When I had a custom-ordered status streamline (last year), I had tried a few different brands of strings. Given your sonic requirements ("warm sound with full low ends"), I would actually recommend the status hot wires... the others I tried were either a little too dull or a little too brash - the stock strings it came with sounded full and rich. That bass actually had an extremely nice harmonic signature and a wide range of useful tones - it's a pity I simply could not bond with the neck on it
I can't say which brand are the absolute "best" for a bass with a graphite neck, but I preferred GHS Boomers on the Modulus that I once owned, and also on the P/J with a Moses neck that I used to own.
I would use the same strings that I would use on any bass The graphite neck isn’t going to change the character in such a drastic way They actually are warmer than you think
I got my best results with Nickel plated strings. There was definitely a zing factor with my Modulus, Zon, Clover and Ambush basses and it brought that under control on all of them. DR Sunbeams, Ken Smith Burner NPS.
