Best strings for growly jazz bass sound!

Roundwound wear on fretless fingerboards is highly exaggerated. You can always use tapewound (I dislike them) or a coated round. GHS Preassurewounds would also be a good choice. But you gotta have rounds of some kind for growl. Flats have purcussive attack/punch, but they don't growl.

Yeah, that can get a little spendy if you're not getting free strings.

My roto 66s last me a good 1.5/2 month. They only cost about 19-20$ a set which is pretty cheap compared to a lot of other string manufacturers.
