Yeah definitely some confusion and not standardized there. I was going with the mod shop color names, the original subject here.

I think, originally, in the 50s Fender “sunburst” was black to yellow, then they changed to the 3 color sunburst in the 60s. So now they have to differentiate the two.

I found this about Les Pauls. In the 50s sunburst was red/yellow but sometimes very dark brown/yellow. Bursts: 2023 Guide to Les Paul Standard Sunburst Finishes | guitarguitar
 
Other than a good classic sunburst, my favorite translucent finishes tend towards the more natural like blonde and butterscotch or amber. I do make exceptions. I'm expecting a translucent blue Jazz and I have a nice translucent Fiesta Red Fender Jazz from Japan:
