Best way to split signal (Clean DI/Pedals + Amp)

I'm sure this has been asked before but I can't quite get the info I'm looking for. I'd like to record bass directly into my interface clean, while simultaneously recording my pedals/amp mic'd up. What's the best solution for this? Would the Neve RNDI work for this? I currently have a Motu 8pre that doesn't have the nicest pre's albeit they sound fine DI'd but would be willing to upgrade for a noticeable difference.

Just want to know what piece of hardware I'll need to accomplish this setup. I have the gear to record both separately, just want to do (clean) DI/(dirty) live mic'ing at the same time.

Essentially you want something that will accept your instrument level input, then pass that out unchanged, while also transforming the signal into a line level output for directly connecting to a line input.

lots of choices there. For me it's a Sennheiser XSW-d pedalboard receiver which has an XLR DI output as well as the normal 1/4" TS instrument out. The wireless part is not pertinent here, I'm just using this as an example.

If you had a Sansamp board or box you would probably have everything you need.

Bass -> Neve RNDI In:

Neve RNDI XLR out -> Motu8Pre CH1 Mic In -> DAW Track 1 (Clean)

Neve RNDI Thru out -> Amp -> Amp Mic -> Motu8Pre CH2 Mic In -> DAW Track 2 (Amp)

You will use the Motu's Mic Pre for both channels unless you have other preamps.

Virtually all DI boxes have an XLR out and a thru output. Send the XLR to your interface, send the thru to your pedals and mic up the result which then travels down a second XLR to the interface as well. Easy peasy. Grab whatever DI box fits into your budget and you'll be set.

Most often I just do the two DIs. If I really need an amp sound I either use a sim or reamp.
