Do you need the brain if im going into the prosonus 8 input? Would the presonus be considered the brain and im going directly into cubase for recording not live.

    thanks

By "brain," seamonkey means a "trigger-to-MIDI-interface." The Presonus Firepod and Firestudio are audio and MIDI interfaces, but not trigger-to-MIDI interfaces.

A web search will turn up some more trigger-to-MIDI options (including used Alesis D4 and D5 drum modules).
