I must share the story of my last hour and a half, wherein I will sing the praises of Bias Amp 2 and laugh out loud at myself.

My new band has a dozen songs recorded and the only main thing left to record are the vocals. I worked on two songs today and felt a bit tired. Wanted to change gears but had more free time. I decided I'd do some mic tests on reamping my bass.
I'd recorded direct because some of the parts were a little complicated and also partly unfinished when we did the drums/scratch rhythm parts, so I'd always intended to reamp.
But while we were working on the final guitar, I'd quickly thrown on Bias Amp, pulled up a GK head model and loaded a Hartke IR...basically = my actual rig.
So today...I spent an hour and a half swapping out most of my mic locker, and trying different positions on both my 2x10 and my 1x15. Reamped three representative very different bass parts on three songs.
Started listening to the first round of mics/positions. Did another round refining those I liked and put the mics I didn't back.
I got 3 mics and positions I really loved (RE320, SM57, and a Warm WA-47 Jr). Really got 'the sound in my head.'
Then it finally occurred to me to compare those to the Bias Amp....
I had to laugh at that point as all the 'best sounding combos' basically sound 95% the same as what I'd casually dialed in in 5 minutes.
