Double Bass Big E 4x6 for upright

The 4 x 6 format was a favorite cab I owned by Markbass, though poorly designed to the point of being unreliable as well a bit bulky/heavy for what it delivered db soundwise.
This new 4 x 6 of Mike's looks very very good. I doubt very much that any of the issues I had with the Markbass 604 will be a problem. Pretty excited here by the prospect of a reliable and great sounding 4 X 6 for doubling.

I used the 46 as the house amp at a jazz festival this Saturday. Boomy recital hall with lots of electric and upright bass. Paired with the AI Clarus+ the rig was a champ. Loads of headroom and setting it up on a chair it had a clear punchy sound. I played my Pollmann and a jazz bass with a fretless Warmoth neck. I got a lot of compliments on the sound of both basses.
I still think the 45 is the ultimate for upright but the 46 goes a lot louder and works better for electric. I was able to sit in the audience and hear the rig in several different situations. I was really pleased with how it sounded. Full but still clear. It's the ultimate cabinet for doubling.
I still haven't found a p-bass sound I like but I spoke with Mike today and I'm thinking of checking out some different amps to get the sound in my head out.

Since I only have the one cab I can't comment on the difference between them but the 46 is just such a killing upright sound, I am in bliss. I have used it for a month now on about 13 different gigs in all kinds of different places and it is so good at what it does...That thick thump at the beginning of the note and the whole character of the sound and then the dispersion. It is crazy how a cab can make that much of a difference. I'd like to try a 45 but I'd be more interested in a 26 for smaller gigs, although I think I am set for a good long time. I got the case from studio slips and a hand cart (although the upper weight of the cab makes it bobble when I walk down the sidewalk...been traveling with it on its side even though it is wider...maybe there is a better wider stance cart out there...)

Hey i got the full clamshell with a really big pocket in front. I can put everything I need including the amp in the front pocket, put it on the dolly and unless it is a real pain in the ass (in San Francisco try parking at the Sutter street garage and walking to a gig...) I can make it in one trip with the bass on a wheel. I got a really big cart for my vibes (a Gruvgear Muver 6) which fits the cab and bass really nicely and I prefer using it...except the cart is really heavy.

Susan at studio slips is great to work with. Leather on the bottom, clamshell and a big pocket in front makes a really great case, easy to get into, great protection, and an easier schlep. The last time I got an cab cover it was such a pain toget over and then it had this little velcro strap across the bottom that eventually broke. This design is really excellent and it fits like a glove. So cool to have one less bag to carry too.
