Big Sky?

Form time to time, I sub on guitar at church when the BL is gone. Something I’ve really wanted to try is shimmer, in part to fill out the sound without a bass player.

Also, I recently have been watching some videos of ‘verb and delay on bass guitar. I really liked some of the results, and the shimmer from the Big Sky sounded surprisingly good on bass.

The Strymon is danged pricy, and the Neunaber is also pretty amazing. But the Big Sky really has an incredible range of stuff going on.

What do you think?

It's an amazing pedal that has been around forever, and is a studio staple! It's been around for a long time, which has caused some other companies to catch on over time.

It's got great resale value, if that factors in at all. On guitar, I use the MXR Reverb, which is my favorite because it sounds great and is simple to use

+1 it is a great tool. I agree it is a lot of money. All Strymon effects are priced high but they have no problem selling them. That is a great reverb.

If the Big Sky is overkill check out the MXR M300.

I would never buy a Strymon anything. For one thing, their power supplies are notoriously atrocious. For another thing, Boss makes better pedals for less money. If you think the Big Sky sounds good, wait until you hear the Boss RV-500.

I’ve had zero issues with their power supplies and have run the Timeline and BigSky for years.
IMO their wall warts are better made than most.

The die is cast. A shiny new Big Sky will be here Friday. Having looked at the Neunaber, Boss RV-500, Empress Reverb, MXR, and others (on line of course, no one has these lined up to check out), I’m convinced, $500 worth of convinced, that the Strymon is the one. All of the ones I mentioned above are wonderful.
