Hey there. I 've been looking at Billy's signature strings from Rotosound. The gauges are 43-65-80-110. Anyone tried these? I know what to expect from SS rounds, but how is the balance on this set?
I've used these strings for years and really like them. I used RS 66s before that. The reason I got them to begin with was the thicker E string. I have a hipshot D tuner so that helped when I dropped the D as far as string tension. My only complaint was not the string sets fault. The G string was a little to thin for my taste. But the G string was designed to be thinner for bending. I just don't bend though so I would prefer a little thicker G.
Look up knucklehead on TB. He distributes Circle K strings and I think he would make you up a set with whatever gauge you want. He set my up with simalar gauges as my BS's but with a thicker G. I haven't had a chance to play them much yet. Thay seem a lot brighter but to be fair my rotos were ten years old. I bought a 5 string about 5 years ago so I don't play my 4 as much.
