black burst need help

You can airbrush on water-based or alcohol-based dye, and then clear coat over the top...

If you don't want to airbrush, or don't have the equipment, you *can* hand-wipe the dye on, too...

No offense, but I don't understand the problem with lacquer. It doesn't significantly affect sound and it has virtually the same feel as shellac. Really, they are the same thing, just one is made with polymers and one is made with bug excretions. Is there something else about it? I'm not challenging you here, I'm honestly confused...
