Double Bass Blending Pick Up and Mic -workarounds for single channel amps

So, with that in mind, theoretically that could be used to achieve a blend of a pick-up and a microphone. What would the trade-offs be to using that system versus picking up one of the remaining AI S4+ amps, for example? (I understand that I'd need to use the pre-amp/phantom if I'm running a DPA through an SL1 in addition to a pickup).

Feels cleaner to simply order a S4+ since I know of one available at this point and put my SL1 up for sale, along with my pre-amp.

The S4+ is definitely the way to go to blend two signals, especially if you like the Acoustic Image EQ.

If you have the funds to buy the S4+
that’ll the only amp you going to need ever! As an added plus you can ditch the ART Preamp. It’s a full two channel preamp as well so you can EQ the mike and the pickup separately. You’ll also benefit from the phase reverse buttons on each channel to help prevent feedback and the low cut filters. It’s a win win situation.

I have the later high power two channel AI Focus head that I've used as a small PA with a four piece many many times by using the individual inputs and the effects return.

Every time I start thinking about getting a new head since this one has been used for 500+ gigs, compared to most of the rest of the crowd, that thing has an amazing amount of useful on the job features that the others lack. I feel like I should get a spare. The only thing is those built in "effects"; what was he thinking with that feature??????

Re: Effects- I use the Reverb on my 2 channel Coda (S3) combo, when using it for guitar, or vocals. It is quite helpful to me that it exists. The Quality of Reverb is not that important to me, compared to the convenience of not having to use a separate Reverb pedal, or doing without Reverb. (Usually the guitar, voice is for someone else, they get what I give them.)

Basically, the combo Head I have is a 4 channel mixer+PA. Great purchase.

If you have the $$$, simply order a remaining 2 channel Clarus with XLR and Effects. Great products.

Another option would be get a Tondedexter, train it with the mic, and forget about using a mic in live settings.

Or buy both... ;-)

I wish someone had convinced me to try an inexpensive mixer with phantom power like this before making any decisions on expensive preamps or new amps. A mic into an amplifier didn't work as well as I'd hoped it would

Do you have personal experience with Triton bigamp piezo? I am considering getting one of these...

Another vote for the Grace Felix here. Have been blending DPA and realist for the best live sound I’ve ever gotten- consistently.
