Blood Blisters When Slapping / Popping

How does one prevent blood blisters from forming on the index finger of right hand when slapping / popping repetitively?

Is it just a matter of doing it more?

I use the right index finger to pull up and pop the string after slapping with my thumb.

Thanks for any advice!

When index has a blister, use middle. You'll eventually need it as you get more advanced and do triplet stuff. But yes it's just time and building up the callouses. You're also maybe popping way harder than you need to, which is just experience...
