Let me first say that I am a nice guy.

We play in a music series where they have a different theme each summer. This summer's theme will be decades of music. Each week they will have bands play music from a different decade. Here's why I am nice: when signups came to pick a decade, I was first to pick and I picked the 40's. I figured that people would want to see a rockabilly or do wop band for the 50s, a Beatles type band for the 60's and some good old rock and roll for the 70's.

So now we need some good bluegrass music from the 40's. Here's what we have so far:

Muleskinner Blues
In the Pines
Rocky Road Blues
Bluegrass Breakdown
Bluegrass Stomp
Molly and Tenbrooks
Little Maggie
It's Mighty Dark to Travel
Will You Be Loving Another Man?
Why Did You Wander?
Mother's Only Sleeping

If there are any "Bluegrass Historians" out there that can help with my list, it would be greatly appreciated. Let me know of other good ones or ones on our list that don't qualify.

Thanks

I don't pretend to be a bluegrass historian by decade....so the only recommendation I would make would be to mix in some traditional tunes that people are familiar with. Chances are you'll find bluegrass versions of any old time/traditional song you can think of.

When we've done some of those public concert series things, we like to mix in some family friendly stuff and remove some of the R rated material.
