Was there anything special about him? Sure, he got in there and did his job, I’m not hearing anything astounding, just kinda typical for the times. That band was just one of many one-hit-wonders of the day, jumping on the horn band fad of that moment. Catchy Top-40 fodder but disposable. They always struck me as one step away from being a lounge band.
