Double Bass Bobelock vs Messina?

I have one of each. Both work fine. Messina is technically a better fit, and has incorporated a few common sense design changes - access to pockets is easier because zippers face up when bag is on its side. I had to request the long zipper be moved to the E side; as designed it would be on the G side. Just personal preference.

The Bobelock is certainly more than adequate. Plenty of handles in the right spots for the way I lift the bag. No failures in 5 years of fairly light use. I think the empty Bobelock is heavier than the Messina.

I guess the ability to customize and choose non traditional colors (gray back and ribs with a yellow top) pushed me to the Messina.

No that’s no concern of mine.... my bass is made in China too lol. But since my bass is a Shen SB90 plywood bass and the Messina covers are now nearly double the the Bobelocks, I think I’ll save the Messina cover for my carved bass.... whenever I get it. :)

I have a Shen 190 hybrid , had a Bobelock bag that came with my prior carved bass. I never really liked the Bobelock, it was heavy and hard to get on and off. It did not fit the Shen well at all , so I ordered a Messina. The Messina is way easier to get on and off. Fits like a glove, and is much better constructed and thought out. I’m glad I went the Messina route.
