Hi everyone. I know there used to be a thread about this, but I didn't find the info I wanted. In my situation...I've decided I want to get a 5 string bongo bass...but I haven't tried them out. From what I heard through my headphones, I dig the sound of both HH and HS. But any opinions? Can anyone describe the tonal differences? Anything is appreciated, thank you!

Bongo HH or HS?

If you dnt get the answers you want here, why not ask on the Ernie Ball forum? Lots of people with both types on there.
Totally unrelated to the tone, but I found it hard to pop strings with the HH. Not much room between the neck pickup and the bottom of the neck....it was the only thing I didn't like about my Bongo.
Gotcha. I heard that somewhere else also, I'm honestly not much into slap though hah.

I prefer the HH over the HS. I have 2 Bongos, an HH and a Single H and love them both. For some reason though the HS just has never appealed to me before.
I prefer a HS combination myself, but YMMV.

I like the Big Al, and the Bongo. Wanted wider spacing at the nut, even on the 5'er. Of course, it appears that may soon become an MM reality.
I love the Fender tone but, an MM would get work too. Plenty of good stuff to dig outta one of those.

I own the HS...the HH was HUGE...in terms of TONE..I though...hmm too huge?

The HS is to my ear like a SUPER RIC (I also own a 4003)...Plenty of Bass and BITE.
I like to play up near the neck and I always favor the blend forward toward the neck pickup.
