Books On Bass Electronics...?

I can recommend Dave Hunter's "The Guitar Amp Handbook", ISBN #8-84088-04929-4. There is a 2nd edition, but I haven't read it yet. Good, clear writing, well organized.

The book looks at different amp schematics, & describes what's happening to the signal as it goes thru the circuit. The last chapter is a schematic & instructions for building an amp - there's 2 or 3 typos, the corrections can be found online (& probably in the 2nd ed).

The best part was saved for last: a series of interviews with amp manufacturers, including Ken Fischer of Ampeg & Trainwreck, Dr. Z, & Victoria amps - I've read this part several times. An excellent intro: if you want to dig deeper and start building & designing amps, then you can download the free US Navy NEETS course & look at Merlin Blencowe, Aspen Pittman & the usual suspects.

If you want to learn about basic electronics and more, I highly recommend the book "Electronic Projects for Musicians by Craig Anderton".

Beat me to it. Easy to follow. It was super cool thirty years ago, because you could buy parts bags for pretty much all the projects in the book from PAiA Electronics for $20-$25 per kit. Most of the cool ones like Super Tone Control were discontinued twenty years ago.
