The state of denial.
I'm having trouble finding out much info on this pedal, at least beyond a lot of love for it. I'm looking for a filter that will be thick and bassy, but not too wet'n peaky, doesn't take up lots of real estate, and (most importantly) will sweep through low frequencies, because I push a dark tone (P5 with tone rolled low). I assume the frequency knob on this thing actually moves the center of the sweep, but I want to double-check that since, again, info is limited.

it pretty much fits the bill you described there..... It's often described as 'subtle' by comparison with other filters, but the gist of that is that it responds relatively consistently and doesn't generate the more out-there sounds (bootsy, for example). Not something one would use if he wanted outer space laser noises, but it definitely sounds like a proper ******* envelope filter.

That said, it's basically plug and play, very intuitive. Great pedal.

Edit-- I believe you're right about the freq knob, but that's just based on my ears; I haven't actually opened it up and sorted out the wiring.

I believe it controls the low frequency that the filter sweep drops back down to after it's opened up by playing a note. It also affects the rate of the sweep to my ears, turning it down low will make the filter close quite quickly after it's opened. I'll try and do a few clips sometime for you.

By the way, the BYOC filter pedal is the same circuit as the DOD440 / Tonefactor 442 and they supply the parts necessary to mod it for bass which is basically a Bottom Feeder. This pedal though has a switch to put the filter into fixed wah mode where a 3rd knob controls the filter. Put an expression pedal jack on there and I reckon it would make a really good wah pedal, I love the sound of this filter! I bought the parts to mod my 442 but am a bit nervous about doing it!
