I read the older posts on this subject and there were a lot of good comments. I am a member of a small classic rock outfit that plays sparse gigs, parties, BBQs, etc. At 50, I am the "baby" of the group and the owner of our PA is sick of hauling around the mains, monitors and his guitar amp to gigs.
A friend works for Bose and gave us two L1's to play with in practice last week. Now our practice space is a small, soundproofed room in a basement and we tend to play too loud. I will say I was extremely doubtful when we all removed out amps and plugged directly into the Bose ToneMaster mixer (3 vocal mikes, four guitars and my bass). My L! had the B2 sub, the other tower had the B1. My bass sounded plenty good through the Bose and cut past our too-loud drummer no problem.
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the sound. It was nice. As the lead singer, I really appreciated being able to hear myself as never before. It made singing easier and in my opinion, better. In fact, I could hear everything really well.
After rehearsal, the band is leaning towards investing in the Bose products and we are waiting for the next internal Bose sale (ridiculously deep discounts). I have some concerns though. In the small clubs we play, or basement parties, I think we will be fine. I do wonder what this thing will sound like at our many outdoor gigs though. Anyone with experience know what to expect? I saw a couple of cell-phone vids from one TBLer and it is hard to say anything as the sound quality of the recording was horrible and doesn't likely represent what people were actually hearing. It is too bad that we are under a few feet of snow now and we couldn't take the demo system outside to try it.
I don't really want to hear from all the Bose haters that love to talk about a product they have not demo'd - there seem to be plenty of you out there! I'd love to hear from anyone with experience with this product. We are old, in pain and really are not going to be playing Civic Centers or stadiums anytime soon.
