Boss CE-2B not working

Awhile back, I bought a Boss CE-2B and used it on and off, never fully vibing with it, on light was very dim. Then yesterday, I find out that they use different power than most modern pedals (ACA instead of PSA). Not wanting to mess around with the innards, I tried running a 12V supply to the pedal (I have a 1Spot CS-6). Sure enough, the light illuminates much brighter than on 9V, but there's no sound, whether the pedal's on or off. I got some sound by fiddling with the cables, but only for a second or so. So I disconnect the power supply and try putting in a battery. Same thing- light turns on nice and bright, but no sound at all. I then try to plug the pedal in directly, bypassing the board entirely, and again- no sound. It made sound before, and I didn't even try messing around with the inside. What could be wrong?

If yours is one of the later-built ones, it may have been factory modified to use the PSA adaptor, or possibly after purchase by a previous owner (assuming it’s second-hand). If so, maybe it’s fried??

I’ve always used mine with a standard 9V supply, and I agree that the LED is always dim, a pleasant change from the retina-destroying lights on mamy more modern pedals! I just assumed the effect was supposed to be quite subtle. I’ll have to dig it out and have a fiddle with it again.
