Double Bass BOSS GEB 7 Eq pedal ruining my sound!

I run an AI Contra Series 2 head into an EA M-line cab. I wanted to be able to change my tone, reducing some of the mids, for when I do a slap solo, so that its not so 'clacky'. So I bought a BOSS GEB7 eq pedal. The specs say its got a 1MOhm input impedance, but it sucks all the bottom of the sound when I plug direct into the pedal and then into the amp, even with it turned off - just like plugging into a bass guitar amp.

So, thinking the problem is that I need the 10MOhm input impedance of the Contra, I thought I'd use the effects loop instead. But when I dial in the pedal, the same problem occurs, even with the pedal turned off. Anyone got any ideas on what is happening? Are these pedals just shite?
 
they're Boss, you KNOW the answer already hehe.

I have found Boss pedals to be pretty useless, even the Bass specific ones.

I had that pedal 30 years ago,traded it in on a bass hehe. I still have my MIJ Boss Phaser but it is so much louder when turned on it is un-useable in my chain.

get MXR,much better quality,more features,better more robust construction,yeah they cost more,but there's a reason hehe
 
If it has a 1 MegOhms input chances are good, that by replacing the input resistor of 1 MegOhms by a 10 MegOhms resistor should give you your sound back. But modern equipment often used surface mounted parts that are not easy to replace. They also often switch the effect in and out after the input stage, so the lower input impedance is always there.
 
You're right, it's not the input impedance, otherwise the problem would have diapeared in the effect loop. I've had bad experiences with a boss and a behringer eq pedal before. It's just cheap electronics, and IME cheap graphic eq's are especially worse for lower frequencies. You probably need some kind of parametric eq or a more high end graphic eq.
