Boss GT-1B vs GT-10B

Having GT-1B as some sort of stripped version of GT-10B regarding functionality and number od effects, wondering if anyone has compared them side by side. As most of the effects are shared wondering are there any improvements on newer model, as they are almost 10 years appart.

To me it seems that the gt-1b doesn’t track as well as the gt-1b. Squirrelly and uneven response on synth patches especially noticable. There is some of this on the gt-10b as well but it is quite superior to me in this regard. I’d dont really understand why this would be the case. My assumption would be that processing power would have improved and with it tracking speeds. Additionally I tried to recreate the preset Guitar Solo patch from the gt-10b on the gt- 1b and could get there at all. Could my fault I suppose: the parameter adjustment offered on the two units differ somewhat depending on the effect. I was really hoping that the 1B might replace my 10B (weight, footprint) but I plan to stick with the 10B for now.

Well my understanding is that the 10b is outdated and the Zoom B3 was superior. Along with the B3n, the GT -1B is of the latest technological generation of modelling units and should be vastly superior to the 10b - I personally love the sounds in the 1b and find it packs so much more punch compared to the B3.

Yes, my biggest issue with the 1B is the necessity to build a user patch array for my patch navigation. I need my effects available to me for performance situations and often want to jump patches depending on a moment of inspiration. Each patch engages as you pass over it. If I need to move, say, three patches from where I am at I would have to move though 2 patches of some kind on the way there lighting them each up while passing by. A customer service rep at Boss and I discussed this at some length talking about work arounds etc. He said that possibly there will be a firmware update at some point to work out this issue. He also tells me that the amp modeling has indeed improved but that effects signal processing has not really changed. His opinion was that the best effects unit that Boss ever made for bass is the 10B. I only spent about 5 hours in my side by side comparison so my experience is limited. I want it be the 1B but I’m falling back on the 10B

This is so interesting and helpful to me, since I'm in between buying 1B or 10B. And I'm almost sure of buying a used 10B. Any other thoughts on this unit comparing it to the 1B or B3n? Is the 10B still worth it? I don't use amp modeling by the way. Thanks.

Necro-bump/response; pardons! I'm only just now seeing this... if it means anything at all, I really, really love the GT-10B. The footprint is a bit, but in reality, not at all a deal breaker. There's so much in this thing between quantity AND quality that it's worth keeping. Proof is in the pudding, I guess - I'd sold my first one a few years back, and got another one used recently... I shouldn't have sold it in the first place! Additional retro-shout to the GT-6B. The GT-10B is WAY more useful in terms of signal routing, etc. Pardons; I have no experience (yet?) with either the GT-1B or the Zoom B3n...

Thanks Tricaptain. Anyway I decided to go after the GT-1B. GT-10B looks like a great deal but I don't really need that much for my live situations. I'm happy with it, it's a simple, good looking, good sounding engine. Really small and light. Perfect if you don't like to mess with a buch of pedals

I love my 1B, I currently run it as a stomp box, with FS-7. I run it last in my pedal chain before and MXR m80. Polytune 3, octabass, MXR m82, MXR m83, 1B, m80. I dig the pre amp modeling which I set at bass 360, effects are enhancer, delay, reverb, synth and booster. I programmed the knobs to switch into a 2nd stomp box. I then add phaser, overtone, the expression pedal is set to bass wah on 1 stomp, them the 2nd stomp it’s a pitch shifter. I use one Boss PSA 120 adapter with Trutone daisy chain at 9v and I’m at 400mA. I have 4 stomp settings, I don’t use patches, it’s important to adjust the pedal chain within the 1B for optimal results. I dig it. Small compact and fits on a pedal board.
