Boss Pedal Problem

My Boss RV-3 for some reason kills my signal when it is turned off but when it is engaged it works fine. It worked perfectly fine yesterday, which is really strange considering I haven't touched or moved my rig since then. Has anybody ever experienced this problem with Boss pedals, and better yet, does anybody know of a solution to fix my Boss pedal?? Thanks in advance, any help would be greatly appreciated!

The only solution I can come up with is to leave it on all the time.

If there is a battery, take it out and then turn it off by pulling the power cable out (not the switch) then unplug the audio cables, and click the switch once, then wait for a full 60 seconds before putting the battery back in and after that plugging the power cable back in and lastly the audio cables (do it in that order) and see it that resets the device. EDIT: this would be a good time to clean the jacks too.
