I actually use my Idiotbox Blowerbox like an OD for bass. I can get a nice, clanky SVT type sound going into several different types of amps. It's a very versatile pedal and you can dial in more treble and bass. The best part is, those treble and bass knobs actually DO SOMETHING! (rare for distortion/OD in my experience).

TS9 is great with a guitar, but only into an already rocking amp. With a clean bass, it'll sound poop.

The Boss OD pedals aren't as bad as people say. Of your three options, an easy top choice for me.

I have a bbe tubescreamer a friend gave me. I can't even use it live on skinny string guitar because then my clean sound has so much more bass to it than the distortion Sound.

Joyo Ultimate Drive. It's a clone of the Fulltone OCD. I purchased mine on eBay, brand new, for $28.

While the joyo is a lot cheaper...it's also less detailed. An A / B test shows that the real OCD is a lot clearer and more detailed.

if you use any of those , you might wanna get a Blender pedal .! so you can mix your original tone back into your sound ..!! and the low end .!

unless you get an Overdrive/Distortion pedal with it's own Blend knob .!

That's all well and good, but I'm perfectly happy with mine. Granted, I'm not utilizing a ridiculously overdriven tone. The gain is set to what functionally amounts to a two.

Don't get the Boss. I have one and only use it for super distorted tones (think Hysteria by Muse). That's about all I could get out of it -- for the life of me I couldn't get a gritty tone out of it. I bought a Darkglass and have been happy, but that's a pretty expensive pedal.

I have the Joyo Ultimate Drive for distortion and the JHS Morning Glory for OD. I use both in a loop with a bass boost so whenever I turn on the loop the bottom end boost clicks on at the same time the distortion does.
The Morning Glory is great for when you want just a little break up to simulate a tube amp. In a cover band we do some old Grand Funk tunes and it comes reasonably close to capturing the sound of those Sunn amps slightly over-driven.

Just got my PD7 from ebay. It sounds awesome. I've been trying to match Juan Alderete's growly tone from Bedlam in Goliath (and can't afford the SVT). This thing, on clean + attack setting 1, does a pretty gnarly job.

That said, if anyone has any requests for licks to play with the PD7 I'd be happy to record them on StudioOne and send a soundcloud link.
