I want to let you all know about the 4th annual Boston Bass Bash. The BBB 2006 will be held at the New England Conservatory in Boston from June 23 to 25. We also offer a program for young bass players on June 24-25.
This event is designed for classical and jazz bass players of all ages and levels and new this year, it will be open also to electric bass players!
The BBB is one of the only running events of its kind on the East Coast and I hope that you will all take advantage of this opportunity.
Our distinguished faculty this year includes San Francisco Symphony assistant principal bassist Stephen Tramontozzi; Butler University bass professor and past ISB president David Murray; world-renowned jazz bassist Michael Moore; Berklee bass department chair and bass professor Rich Appleman; Director of the Mini Bass Program at NEC Helen Stevenson and myself.
Each day will offer master classes, bass warm-up classes, orchestral classes, discussions/lectures, bass ensembles and evening concerts by the faculty. There will also be a gala recital featuring the participants on the last day of this event. Mornings will begin with a yoga class presented by Jean Rife; this class will address common issues related to bass playing, improving awareness and flexibility.
Bass maker Zachary Martin will give a class on bass maintenance and repair and will be available for adjustments and basic repairs throughout the weekend. In the exhibit hall you will find plenty of instruments and bows to try, accessories, bass music and CDs all available for purchase.
